Jammie Dodger Cupcakes

I love baking.

There's something so heart warming about the perfect baked treat, and these are just that.

Jammie Dodgers have always been a favourite of mine ever since I was little and so I was very excited to bake some Jammie Dodger cupcakes.

{Bakes 12 Cupcakes}

I N G R E D I E N T S

125 g Self Raising Flour
125 g Caster Sugar
125 g Unsalted Butter (soft)
1/4 tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
2 Large Eggs
1.5 tbsp Whole Milk
12 Mini Jammie Dodgers
Strawberry Jam

F O R T H E I C I N G / D E C O R A T I O N

150 g Unsalted Butter

340 g Icing Sugar, Sifted

1 tbsp Vanilla Extract

24 Mini Jammie Dodgers (optional)
M E T H O D

Pre - heat the oven to 180° c

Add the flour, caster sugar, bicarbonate of soda, butter and eggs to the mixer and beat on a slow speed for 5 minutes.

When mixed, add in the milk.

Add jam into the cake batter slowly, in a 'splattered' motion, this does NOT need to be mixed in as it gives the batter a lovely marbled effect when left.
Line a tin with 12 cake cases and add a mini Jammie Dodger into the bottom of each cake case.
Add in the cake mixture and bake for 20-22 minutes.
I C I N G

Mix together the unsalted butter and  icing sugar.

When cooled, remove the middle of each cake (I recommend using an apple corer) and pipe in strawberry jam.

Top the cupcakes with buttercream icing then add a splatter of strawberry jam, finish each cupcake with 2 x mini jammie dodgers on the top.

What do you think of these cupcakes?

Love,

Dayna

Festival Essentials

Now that festival season is upon us I thought I'd share with you some of my must have essentials for festivals.

Is there a better time to cover yourself in all things glitter and pretty eyeshadow?! I absolutely love the Afterdark* palette from Urban Decay, the pigmentation is incredible and it contains a beautiful array of shimmery colours to make even the worst of makeup days instagram worthy (lets face it, lack of sleep is far from glam) - making this palette a definite festival must have.

To add to the festival glam, there are these beautiful face gems from Home Bargains*, these are super easy to apply so the perfect way to glam up a simple makeup look or add some bohemian chic to a glittery festival face.

Deodorant, dry shampoo & towel sized wet wipes because lets face it.. festivals are far from glam and showering becomes something of a bush tucker trial.
I was so impressed to see these towel sized wet wipes in Home Bargains, who knew these existed?! pure genius! and for under £2 a real bargain.

And lastly SPF, caring for your skin is SO important- especially when you're spending hours in the sun! I'm loving the SPF 30 ultra facial cream from Kiehls*, it's lightweight, skin coloured so doesn't make you look ghostly pale and smells divine..

What are your festival essentials?

Love,

What's In My Bag? Date Night Edition | #ChallengeBodyform

Writing this post is making me feel very hungry.. Gimme all the Pizza Hut Cookie Dough!

The lovely people over at Bodyform challenged me to a night out wearing their Daily Fresh Liners, Dan and I treated ourselves to a date night at Pizza Hut and indulged in pizza, chips and cookie dough.

Here's what was in my bag...

S U N G L A S S E S

a handbag essential for this time of year, these were from River Island last year so unfortunately I can't link them but you can find similar sunglasses here.

T E D B A K E R M I S T

I love this Ted Baker mist, it's the perfect size to fit into my handbag and smells divine.
It is also under £5 so an absolute beauty steal!

Dan very kindly brought me a beautiful set of Charlotte Tilbury brushes for Christmas, although this isn't the kind of brush to throw into your handbag they're definitely the perfect size to add into your makeup bag! They're the softest makeup brushes I've ever used and apply your makeup with ease, not to mention they have rose gold detailing *heart eye emojis*

I always like to have an emergency mascara in my bag at this time of year due to watery eyes from hay fever or the wind, especially on date night when panda eyes are a definite no no.. I love the roller lash mascara from Benefit, it curls your lashes as well as giving them length so it's the perfect all round eyelash hero.

Another beautiful product that Dan very kindly treated me too (I'm a very lucky girl!) I've wrote a full review on this product here so I won't go into too much detail. This is the perfect everyday pink and my go-to date night lipstick.

As I mentioned earlier in this post, Bodyform challenged me to try their Daily Fresh liners for date night.
The first thing I noticed was that they're the perfect size to fit into your handbag, they're small and so discreet. They were comfortable to wear and you couldn't see them so these could easily be worn with dresses or skirts (unlike others I've tried that are bulky and uncomfortable!) making them the perfect handbag addition for date night.

Have you tried the Bodyform Daily Fresh Liners?

Love,

Dayna
