The Radiant Base Menu

I am definitely a dewy finish kinda gal when it comes to foundations, and as much as I'd love to be able to pull of the whole 'matte-porcelain' esque finish when it comes to my face, my skin is far too dry to accept anything slightly on the matte side.

These foundations are more on the light-medium side of things when it comes to coverage which I know isn’t to everyones preferences when it comes to foundations but I personally love wearing something that is lightweight yet adds a beautiful healthy glow to the skin.

and so, in no particular order here are my favourite dewy foundations..

Wake Me Up, Rimmel (100, Ivory)
This will always hold a firm place in my makeup stash as it was actually the first foundation I ever brought myself way back in secondary school. The Rimmel foundations in general are amongst some of my drugstore favourites as they offer amazing quality for a fraction of the price of high end comparisons. The only downside of these and one that you may be able to see from the swatches is that it is slightly orange toned, this isn’t as obvious on the skin when blended well but it’s something that I have noticed in the past when switching between these foundations. This particular foundation does need to be blended well as it can appear glittery in some lights (no need to be afraid) but overall it gives a lovely, radiant appearance to the skin and is below the £10 mark. -SPF 15

Fresh Nude, The Body Shop (020, Bali Vanilla)
This is my choice of foundation for work and one that has crept into my everyday makeup routine for outside of work multiple times. This is a lightweight foundation with medium coverage and so perfect as we transition into the warmer months and potential makeup melting situations when higher coverage foundations are used. This contains rose water and so is hydrating for us dry skinned girls without being too oily, I love the fresh and glowing appearance of this foundation when applied to the skin. The shade range for these Fresh Nude foundations are amazing and so it’s worth popping into a store to see if you like how they look on your skin.

City Radiance, Bourjois (02, Vanilla)
The newest edition to my base collection and one that was influenced by the lovely Emily Rose, this is perfect for days when you cannot be bothered to apply makeup yet don’t want to resemble a complete ghost (in my case anyway) this gives a very light yet buildable coverage and a lovely subtle glow.
SPF 30

Le Teint Touche Eclat, YSL (BR20)
This was the first ‘high end’ foundation I ever brought and one that I absolutely adore to wear. This is a slightly bit more on the medium/high coverage level when it comes to base products and as with the previous foundations mentioned, gives a  beautiful radiance to the skin. The only thing I’d say is a slight pain with the touche éclat foundations is the shades- I completely guessed when buying mine and luckily it was a match but I’d recommend going to a counter to get an actual match before investing in a foundation like this. Despite loving it, it is very similar to the previous foundations mentioned and so if high end is out of your budget then the Rimmel Wake Me Up or Fresh Nude Foundation from The Body Shop compare in multiple ways.
